1. General
Dara Kitchen And Event (“we”, “us”, “our”) provides a comprehensive range of hospitality and event services including but not limited to:
These Terms & Conditions govern all bookings, contracts, and interactions between you (“client”, “you”, “your”) and Dara Kitchen And Event. By proceeding with a booking, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and accepted these terms in full.
2. Bookings & Payments
2.1 Booking Confirmation
A booking is only confirmed when we receive a signed agreement (or written confirmation via email) and a deposit of at least 50% of the total estimated cost. Verbal discussions or informal messages do not constitute a binding booking.
2.2 Payment Schedule
- Deposit: 50% due at booking confirmation to secure your date and resources.
- Balance: The remaining 50% is due no later than 3 days before the event/service date.
- Confectionary orders: Full payment is required at least 5 days before pickup/delivery.
2.3 Accepted Payment Methods
Bank transfer, mobile money, credit/debit cards (via secure link), or cash (with a receipt). All payments are non-refundable except as outlined in the Cancellation section.
3. Cancellations & Refunds
3.1 Cancellation by Client
- More than 30 days before event: Full deposit refund (minus 5% admin fee).
- 15–30 days before event: 50% of deposit refunded.
- 7–14 days before event: 25% of deposit refunded.
- Less than 7 days before event: No refund; deposit is forfeited.
- Confectionary orders: Cancellations accepted up to 7 days before pickup for a full refund. After that, no refunds.
3.2 Cancellation by Us
If we must cancel due to unforeseen circumstances (e.g., illness, emergency, supplier failure), we will offer a full refund or a rescheduled date at your choice. We will make every effort to give you at least 7 days’ notice.
3.3 Refund Processing
Refunds are processed within 10 business days via the original payment method. We will confirm via email once the transaction is initiated.
4. Service Delivery
4.1 Cooking & Catering
All food is prepared fresh in our certified kitchen. We follow strict hygiene standards. Delivery is available within a 20 km radius of our base; beyond that, a delivery fee applies. For events, our team arrives 2 hours before service time for setup.
4.2 Decoration & Styling
We provide full setup and teardown of decorations. Venue access must be available at least 4 hours before the event start. Any damage to venue property caused by our team will be addressed promptly and covered by our insurance.
4.3 Confectionaries
Custom cakes, pastries, and desserts require a minimum of 7 days’ notice for bespoke designs. We provide a digital mock-up for your approval before production. Changes to design can be made up to 3 days before the delivery date.
4.4 Event Planning
Our event planning service includes coordination with vendors, timeline management, and on-the-day execution. We provide a detailed event run-sheet at least 1 week before the event.
5. Client Responsibilities
As a valued client, you agree to:
- Provide accurate information regarding guest count, dietary requirements, allergies, and venue details.
- Ensure venue access on the agreed date and time, including parking and loading access.
- Notify us of any changes to your event details (e.g., time, location, number of guests) at least 7 days in advance.
- Provide a safe working environment for our staff (e.g., clear of hazards, adequate lighting, power supply).
- Arrange for responsible supervision of minors if children are present at the event.
Failure to meet these responsibilities may result in service delays or additional charges. We will always communicate openly if any issue arises.
6. Liability & Insurance
6.1 Our Liability
We maintain comprehensive public liability insurance for our cooking, decoration, and event planning activities. We take all reasonable precautions to ensure the safety and quality of our services. However, we are not liable for:
- Food allergies or reactions not disclosed to us in writing at least 7 days before the event.
- Damage to venue property caused by third parties (other vendors or guests).
- Loss or damage to personal belongings brought to the event.
- Unforeseen weather conditions affecting outdoor events (we will offer alternative indoor solutions where possible).
6.2 Client Liability
You are responsible for any damage caused by your guests to our equipment or property. We reserve the right to charge for repairs or replacement.
7. Intellectual Property
All designs, recipes, décor concepts, event layouts, and creative proposals provided by Dara Kitchen And Event remain our intellectual property. You are granted a non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use them for your specific event only.
You may not reproduce, distribute, or commercialise our designs, recipes, or concepts without our prior written consent. We retain the right to use photographs of our work for our portfolio and marketing materials (unless you request otherwise in writing).
If you share photos of your event on social media, we kindly request that you tag @DaraKitchenAndEvent or mention us — we love seeing your beautiful moments!
8. Privacy & Data Handling
We take your privacy seriously. Any personal information you provide (names, contact details, dietary needs, event specifics) is used solely for the purpose of delivering our services and communicating with you.
We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties except where required by law or with your explicit consent. We retain your information for up to 3 years after your last booking for record-keeping and quality improvement.
You have the right to request a copy of your data or request its deletion at any time. Contact us at privacy@darakitchen.com for any data-related queries.
9. Amendments to Terms
We reserve the right to update or modify these Terms & Conditions at any time. Changes will be posted on this page with a revised “Last updated” date.
For bookings made before a change, the terms in effect at the time of your booking will apply. We will notify you of any material changes that affect your current booking via email.
Your continued engagement with our services after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated terms.
10. Governing Law & Dispute Resolution
These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of Nigeria. Any disputes arising from or relating to these terms or our services shall be resolved through:
- Friendly negotiation — we will always attempt to resolve issues amicably first.
- Mediation — if negotiation fails, we will use a mutually agreed mediator within 30 days.
- Arbitration — as a final step, disputes may be referred to binding arbitration in accordance with the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, Cap A18, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria.
The venue of arbitration shall be Lagos, Nigeria. Both parties agree to bear their own legal costs unless otherwise determined by the arbitrator.
